Shared chore list for flatmates, couples and families
Daily, weekly, monthly and occasional jobs for a shared home.
No account, no install. You get a link you can send to anyone.
Arguments about housework are rarely about the work itself. They are about not knowing who was meant to do it, and about one person keeping track of everything in their head.
This template splits the usual jobs by how often they come round - every day, every week, every month and every few months. Send the link to everyone who lives with you, add each person to the list, and put a name against the jobs they are taking.
When someone ticks a job off, everyone else sees it straight away. There is nothing to install, and nobody has to sign up, so it works for a house share where people come and go.
How to get the most out of it
Agree the list together before assigning anything
Go through the sections as a household first and delete the jobs that do not apply to your home. People are more likely to do a job they agreed belonged on the list.
Rotate the jobs nobody wants
Cleaning the bathroom and taking out the bins are easier to accept when they move round. Change the names against those items at the start of each week or month.
Untick the weekly section on the same day each week
Pick a day - the morning the bins go out works well - and untick the weekly jobs so the list starts fresh. Anything still unticked the night before is visible to everyone.
Keep the occasional jobs on the list
Testing smoke alarms and defrosting the freezer are the jobs that get forgotten for a year. Leaving them on the shared list means someone eventually notices them.

Questions people ask
- Can I assign a chore to one person?
- Yes. Add the people in your household to the list, then put a name against any item. Everyone can see who has what.
- Does everyone need an account?
- No. Anyone with the link can open the list in a browser and tick jobs off.
- How do I reset the list each week?
- Untick the items in the weekly section. The jobs stay on the list, so you never have to type them again.
- Can I add jobs specific to our home?
- Yes. Add, rename, move or delete any item once the list is created - garden, pets, car or anything else.
